To those of you who have known me for any period of time, you know that this isn't my first rodeo when it comes to blogging. I've had various blogs under various titles, especially during my college years when I was continuing to decipher who I was and what I wanted to be about. As an English major, I've always used writing as a creative outlet to process.
I've been on a two year hiatus not because I gave up writing, but simply because graduation, multiple moves, job changes and getting married kept me busy (and sometimes frantic) enough. But I have a dream - a dream of writing, and I firmly believe that dreams stay dreams unless you do something about them.
Oak and Ivy doesn't necessarily encompass who I am but moreso a tangible picture of how God has taught me who He is and what He is about. Oaks are strong and sturdy and beautiful. Ivy grows in two directions - up and out. God gave me this picture when I first chose to follow Him - a large beautiful oak tree with ivy growing on it. It never meant much except for this undecipherable puzzle I've chewed on each subsequent year. As the years have passed, it's started to become a little bit clearer. Through the goodness of who He is, He's made me stronger, sturdier, and taught me to grow and love more like Him (up) and to share this with the people He places in my life (out). So I'm choosing to explore this promise through the one medium I've always felt pulled back to.
So this blog will not only be a creative outlet, but a place to share my dreams, observances, recipes, inspirations, sarcasm, designs, Jesus, and life.
